Royce A Rocket!
The wait is over. Royce White is a Houston Rocket.
Houston selected the former (yes, I may be shedding a tear right now) Iowa State Cyclone with the 16th pick of the 2012 NBA Draft.
Too big for guards and small forwards to handle (6’8, 270) and too quick for power forwards and centers (see the highlights against Jeff Withey of Kansas), I TRULY believe Royce White is going to make a terrific player in the NBA. In fact, I wouldn’t be at all shocked if, someday, experts look back and consider him the steal of the draft.
White has the rare combinations of size and athleticism and ball-handlling and passing skills that very few players in the NBA have. Is it too crazy to call him a “Poor Man’s Lebron?”
White joins NCAA Tourney foes Jeremy Lamb (UConn) and Terrance Jones (Kentucky) as the three players selected in the first round by the Houston Rockets. Iowa State defeated UConn in the first round before bowing out to eventual National Champion Kentucky.

June 29, 2012I can see the comparison with a “poor mans LeBron” in terms of size, passing, athleticism, and ability to get to the basket, but I don’t think he’ll ever be a huge scorer in the league like LeBron
